GEORGIA

CASA in Georgia is a new advocacy and organizing hub for the Black, immigrant, and working class community in the state. Starting in January 2022 we have focused on lifting the voices of our members in coalition with other organizations in lobbying legislators, recruiting new activists, providing training and making the connections to develop a robust outreach program in the state. CASA has been part of the successful efforts to take down anti-immigration legislation in the capitol, supporting the efforts of the Coalition to Shut Down the Folkston Detention Center, hosting educational events to the community about other legislation that impacts working families, and organizing daily outreach efforts canvassing doors, phone banking as well as providing information about covid vaccination programs. With the launch of the Atlanta office, CASA will develop community activities and connect the membership to local, state, and national stakeholders to achieve immigration relief and better services for our community.
